Numbers of the Day

The daily reality of life with Type 1 diabetes.

Directed by Seamus Yu Harte during his MFA program at Stanford, Numbers of the Day is a deeply personal documentary that captures the relentless calculations, constant monitoring, and physical toll of living with Type 1 diabetes.

Through intimate storytelling, the film sheds light on the challenges, resilience, and unexpected strength that come with managing this condition—revealing how what feels like a burden can, in time, become a superpower.

“I test my blood around 5-6 times per day. A normal blood glucose level is between 70-120, but as a diabetic I have to monitor and regulate these numbers myself. I do this by adding and subtracting food, medication, or physical activity in my daily life.”
